My first engagement session

I work with Amber at my 'real job', and she's getting married! We went to a local park by their house to shoot some engagement pictures, and it was just a blast. They're such a pretty couple!

Amber is significantly shorter than Brian, and wore what looked like 4 inch heels to the session. We did a lot of walking, and when we were walking back to our cars, Amber decided she wanted nothing else to do with her shoes. Brian insisted on carrying her to the car. So sweet!
And one last shot before we called it a day. Thanks Amber and Brian!

Trying a little fantasy

I've seen a lot of fairy edits lately, and wanted to take a shot at it myself. I should be uploading pictures from Aidens party, but I couldn't resist playing around with this picture. How'd I do?

It's time for a Puppy Party!

Haley turned 8 years old, and of course I was there with my camera. My sister gets some of the best parties I've been to for kids. This year was a puppy party, with live puppies and everything.

All the girls got ears, a bandana, and their faces painted. I even got in on the action.

The girls had a ton of activities.

First they frosted their own dog bone

Then they searched for bones in the yard

They set up a big obstacle course for the kids to run around in. My favorite set of shots were taken within a couple seconds of each other. Hanna jumped the bridge, followed by Haley... who was then trailed by Olivia. Olivia didn't play any of the games, really, but she followed all the big girls throughout the course. It was so funny! So I combined the images together.

There was an awesome pinata there too. I asked Karen about blindfolds... apparently thats a baaaaaaaad idea

Olivia loved the headless puppy.

Every girl wanted a picture with the puppy. I'll post the birthday girl.

And my favorite shot was of Haley and Jasmine helping each other read a card. So sweet!

trials and tribulations over watermarking

I have to start by saying that I love my logo. Props to Holly (jupitergraphics.net) for making the best most fantastic logo there possibly ever could be.

But I'm struggling with how to proof my pictures. Originally I just laid the watermark down, black and white, on any random part of the picture where it seemed ok to have it. But I wanted a more uniform look. So then I went with what I posted yesterday - with a white border, and splitting apart the logo. Frankly, I wasn't thrilled. Heres the newest incarnation:

I like it better than yesterdays... but I don't know if I love it yet.

About me, over breakfast

So hi, I'm Heather. I'm a mom, a wife, a photographer, a boss... Right now I work full-time third shift at FedEx Ground. I don't love it, but I don't hate it... it pays the bills, and I get to meet a lot of fun people. What I want to do is photograph. I live it, love it, breathe it.

I also live and love and breathe my kids. I have two daughters. Olivia is a clone of me. She looks and acts just like I did at that age. It's uncanny. Almost makes me feel bad for my mom.

Claire is a female version of my husband. We totally got the best of both worlds with our kids.

At breakfast this morning, I just loved how they were eating in unison. Olivia isn't much of a fan of her little sister. It's getting better every day, but I'm sure if given the choice, Claire would go away. Claire had some mean hair when she got up this morning too.

and so we begin...

What better way to start a blog, then to list some goals in life. These aren't in any order, and the list is subject to be added to. I'll update as I accomplish them.
