if only we could will them to win

The Columbus Blue Jackets made the play-offs for the first time ever this year. We've already lost our bracket... for those not in the know. Tuesday was the first home game, and just about every member of my husbands family went to the game. They're huge hockey fans. I can honestly say I knew nothing about hockey prior to meeting my husband, and now I know enough to yell at games (pretty good, huh.) Of course I took a zillion photos... here's just a few.

Tim before the game... he threw my hat on his head. He was complaining that he didn't have a hat with a bill, since it was raining.

The center (I took this more for Olivia then anyone else... she loves the Jackets logo man)

we were actually backwards from the logo, so this is an actual shot from our seats. See, it says play-offs right there on the ice!

Tims mom just loves Tyler Wright (he played on the Jackets their first season) and apparently he was in a booth. They tell me this is him.

Stinger, the mascot, skated around with a shirt cannon before the game... Danny actually caught one (he gave it to me, since it practically came in a childs size)

So, we pretty much knew we wouldn't win. We're just frankly not that good of a team. But we were hoping that the Jackets would put up a fight. It was very apparent by the second period that we just weren't going to. The boys... well... they were mad

I think Brenton wanted us to do well more then anyone else, and his face at the end of the game was just heartbreaking. So sad Brenton made my 365.

a boring 365 catchup

Mostly repeats from the studio... but we're getting closer to caught up!! Not quite there yet.

the studio up til now

So the studio... is not done. But it is close. Unfortunatly there's no floor, so it doesn't even look all that close... but I'm told it's not going to take too much longer from here to finish it. Though now it is no longer spring break, and scheduling a busy junior with a busy working mom is atrocious. >.< But it will get done....

Friday... again
day of painting. And painting. And painting. That weekend, I painted the hallway Olivia drew all over, all the crown molding and the chair rail for the studio, and both colored wall areas of the studio. I got so close to done by Saturday... but not quite.

I also decided to dye a backdrop, and it was drying on Friday outside. What I've learned from dying a 15 foot backdrop? It's worth it to just buy it done. :)

Sunday
Jeremy came over... and I still wasn't done painting! But he helped me sand the last bad areas on the walls, and paint up the last bit. We also went and bought the flooring... which turned out had to aclimate to my climate for three days. Who knew that!? So that's officially what slowed us down.

It's a long process... but I'm just loving how it's turning out. And I can't wait for it to be done!!!

he renovates AND plays sports

So I couldn't make my studio in the basement without Jeremy's help. He had a soccer game on my end of town, that just happened to be the same night as the first play-off game for the Blue Jackets. I was concerned he wouldn't have anyone watching his game (since they'd want to watch the hockey)... and I always love an excuse to take photos, so I decided to watch him play. And I think not knowing much about soccer... kinda hurt LOL! I was never really sure what was going on. And on the technical end, my color is all over the place... I think the setting sun had something to do with that. So here's some shots I got that I liked, for no reason other then I liked them :)

Jeremy's the goalie... thankfully... because I would have had a hard time picking him out otherwise!

Boys dribbling..

I think our team was on the attack (we're blue)

Okay, Jeremy kicking the ball was my favorite part, because he jumps! According to him, he kicks with so much force, that trying to stop his foot after the kicking the ball actually hurts him. So instead of trying to stop, he just jumps, to let the momentum die out naturally. He's so tall, that he jumps way high! And I think at this point, we all know how much I love jumping shots ;)

and finally, 106 of 365: He blocks a goal!

It's almost ridiculous how far behind I am...

*sigh*

So here's what I hope to accomplish by the weekend...
-catch up on posting the 365
-edit and post Easter photos
-edit and post photos from Jeremy's soccer game
-edit and post photos from the Blue Jackets playoffs
-Finish up Abby and Scotts session (yeah - still not done with those - though I did get the most important part (Abbys Invite) done and sent to the printers... I'll have to post that too)
-Show where we're at in the studio renevations.

So yeah... thats a lot!

Plus, just as a public service message... try not to work third shift if you can help it! And if you do... don't take a week off, and then expect to go right back into daily life when work starts right back up. Sheesh my body is just killing me this week!!

And since I can't post without posting some photos, I'll get a few days caught up on the 365. Most are renevation photos, turned black and white. Sorry about that... I wasn't really into the whole 'lets set up a cool shot' mood those couple days.

construction: where we started, and where we are now

Okay, some of these photos are 365 day photos, but I haven't decided which yet, so you'll probably see them again.

So I've been absent from life this week, because Jeremy and I are working on my new studio. Now that we're in the final stretch, I think its going to be so dang cool! I figure the best way to do this is break it down by day... so here goes!

Saturday
Day one. I had no idea what we were going to do. I had cleaned out the basement down to a couple things of furniture and brick a brack stuff. I figured Jeremy would come over, look things over, and give me an idea of what we would do. Jeremy did come over, did look things over, and said "Lets move this stuff so we can break down some walls." Which we did. Friday ended up being demo day, where we took down all the walls, and the carpet out (though I didn't take any photos after we got the carpet out.) I spent the night killing mold.

(oh and Jeremy's 6'4"... I swear I'm not short, he's just very very tall) D1 01

Sunday
Easter. We took the day off.

Monday
Broke my bank account! We bought most all of the supplies. We rented a truck from Home Depot, and had to race to get everything to the house, and then get the truck back in 75 minutes. Did I mention it was raining? Apparently, drywall is supposed to stay dry at all times, so there was lots of tarping, and fast tiny steps going on as we lugged it around. We spent the rest of that day hanging new lights... which were a pain to hang, and we didn't even finish....

Bare bones

Tuesday
I picked the two hardest lights to hang ever! We got the one hung the day before, and the swivel light had to be put in today. Once we got the lights in, though, it was time to hang drywall. Jeremy cracks me up. Constantly really. This day because he loves to score, and then break off drywall. Granted it is pretty cool, but he was truly thrilled with it each time. Which was good... because we had a lot to hang..... until we ran out of drywall >.<

Wednesday
Borrowed Tims dad and his truck, and picked up 4 more sheets of drywall (yeah, we were waaay off there.) Once we got that hung, it was time to mud. Now, everyone, and I mean everyone, that I'd talked to, complained about mudding. Long, boring, tedious... no one seems to like it. Well... I kinda enjoy it. Not the corners, mind you... those suck. But the screw holes, and the joints... yeah I don't mind it so much. Plus we decided to have the radio on that day. I enjoy the company of people unashamed to sing along to the radio... awesome!

Thursday
We were hoping for Thursday to be an off day to let the mud dry. But we didn't mud the corners the day before (Jeremy forgot his cool wedge like spatula thingie that makes cornering easy) so we went ahead and did the corners on Thursday. We also did a second coat of mud. I also got paint swatches, since I figured I should figure that out soon.

Friday (today)
No photos yet today. We sanded. And sanded. And sanded. And you know what? I hate sanding! I said that, and Jeremy's response... "Finally!" Apparently I have liked far too much of this process for his taste LOL! After sanding, we went to Home Depot (again) to get a different crown molding, and some trim for my door. And I've started priming all the moldings.

The plans for tomorrow? PAINTING! Lots and lots and lots of painting. Do you like to paint?? Come on over!! I'm being dead serious here... I have many many things to paint, and we can't do anything else until it all happens. Maybe there'll be some pizza in it for ya. Or donuts. Or a small toddler. Whatever floats your boat!

I'll more photos here for you soon... but for now, I need to prime. And paint. And paint. And paint. I think its turning out great though!!

You can't photograph a black dog

Aunt Ellie fosters puppies for a local shelter here. She gets two new ones pretty frequently. Ace and Sid joined us at Easter. Sid is an all black dog. Which brought up the discussion that all black puppies tend to have a harder time getting adopted, because its so hard to photograph them and show them off on the shelters website.

I decided Sid needed a photoshoot. And you know what? Photographing black dogs is pretty difficult! But I like the few I got.
